Should Britain rejoin the EU?

Green Party leader Zack Polanski has openly declared his intention to drag Britain back into the European Union if his party enters government, a direct betrayal of the democratic will of the British people expressed in the Brexit referendum.

What Actually Happened

In his first major economic speech, Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party, outlined a radical agenda that includes rejoining the European Union. This commitment was made alongside a raft of other left-wing policies, including shelling out £8.4 billion to cut energy bills, ending Right-to-Buy, introducing rent controls, and renationalising utilities.

Polanski, who bizarrely claimed in 2013 he could enlarge women’s breasts with hypnosis, insisted he is a “pragmatist not an ideologue.” Despite this, his proposals represent a significant shift towards state control and away from individual liberty and national sovereignty.

The Green leader also proposed a “day one” wealth tax, with a 1% levy on wealth over £10 million and 2% over £1 billion, alongside “strengthening” the windfall tax on oil and gas companies and equalising capital gains tax with income tax. These are classic wealth redistribution policies that punish success and stifle economic growth.

What The Politicians Said

I do want to see us rejoin the European Union. I think we’re much better building our relationships with our European neighbours, including rejoining the Customs Union.

— Zack Polanski, Green Party Leader

Why This Matters For Britain

Polanski’s explicit desire to rejoin the EU is a direct assault on British sovereignty and the democratic decision of millions of voters. Brexit was about taking back control of our laws, our borders, and our trade. Rejoining the EU, or even the Customs Union, would surrender that control once again to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, undermining everything the British people voted for.

Furthermore, his economic proposals represent a dangerous lurch towards big government and state intervention. Renationalisation, wealth taxes, and vast public spending pledges would cripple the economy, increase the tax burden on hardworking families, and expand the already bloated state, leading to less freedom and prosperity for ordinary Britons.

This is not “pragmatism”; it is a clear ideological agenda that would dismantle the economic and political freedoms secured by Brexit and replace them with a system of central planning and international subservience. The common-sense majority are tired of being lectured by ideologues who have never had to balance a household budget, let alone run a country.

The Bottom Line

Zack Polanski’s vision for Britain is one of surrendering sovereignty to the EU and imposing crippling left-wing economic policies. This is a clear warning that the political establishment, even those on the fringes, are still plotting to reverse Brexit and expand the state at the expense of ordinary people.
