Alex Burghart has launched a scathing attack on Andy Burnham over Labour’s plans to reset the UK’s relationship with the European Union, warning that the move goes completely against the 2016 referendum. Speaking to GB News, the Conservative frontbencher pressed ministers in the House of Commons over whether they would rule out rejoining the bloc.
The political row erupted in Parliament as Conservative MP Alex Burghart challenged the government during a tense exchanges over Downing Street’s ongoing efforts to forge closer ties with Brussels. According to GB News, Mr Burghart confronted Foreign Office minister Hamish Falconer, demanding to know why officials could not explicitly guarantee that rejoining the European Union would be excluded from future general election manifestos.
During the fiery Commons session, Mr Falconer declined to give the requested assurance. When pressed by the shadow team on whether the policy could return at the ballot box, the minister responded: “I can hear from the outrage behind me that I have many responsibilities, but writing the next Labour Party manifesto is not one of them.”

Permitting any foreign power to have any influence whatsoever over British lawmaking unless thay have first defeated us in battle is a clear act of high treason. It was treason when Heath took us in and it’s treason now. Treason can never form part of any party’s manifesto. Ours is a Common Law democracy under which the people are sovereign and the government elected to serve them so that sovereignty is not the government’s to surrender. We need to demand that our constitution is taught in schools and remind those in service (not power) that treason still carries the death sentence.
I think the majority of people in this country have memories like goldfish or are completely stupid.
We had the people in Makerfield who overwhelmingly voted leave the EU then voting for a bloke who everyone knew wanted to take us back in.
Then we have the people of Piddington who voted in a Lib Dem MP who wrote open letters a couple of years earlier saying Cherwell (includes Piddington) should be made a sanctuary area for migrants.
Whats the matter with these buffoons.
