Farage challenges establishment to second Clacton by-election

Nigel Farage has challenged the establishment to force a second Clacton by-election after being sworn in as an MP, according to GB News. The Reform UK leader issued the defiant ‘bring it on’ message following his return to Parliament.

Speaking to GB News, the Reform leader addressed the prospect of another contest after the parliamentary investigation into donations against him was reopened. Mr Farage triggered the initial vote by resigning his seat, subsequently securing 22,239 votes and increasing his vote share from 46 to 63 per cent.

“If they, as the great and the good, want to stick two fingers up to the voters of Clacton, well, let them do it,” Mr Farage told GB News. “Bring it on for a second by-election night.”

Reflecting on his summer campaign, Mr Farage admitted his primary concern was whether he could mobilise enough voters during the holidays, noting that at least 10,000 working families in Clacton were away in mid-August. Despite this, he aimed to secure a larger vote than at the general election to make his return worthwhile.

Mr Farage pledged his approach as an MP would remain largely unchanged, noting he had met a vast number of constituents and established an extensive email caseload. He added that colleague Richard Tice would handle more day-to-day Commons work while he travelled the country.

On national politics, Mr Farage reiterated his prediction that the next General Election would be held in May 2027 due to deteriorating public finances and potential oil price pressures. He also confirmed Reform would field a candidate in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election following Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation.
