A sophisticated £2 million migrant-smuggling network, operating from modest homes across the UK, exploited the identities of a dead man and a serving British soldier to illegally bring hundreds of migrants into the country. This shocking operation highlights the brazen tactics used by organised crime to undermine Britain’s borders.

The criminal enterprise was uncovered after an eagle-eyed Border Force official at Manchester Airport detected a fraudulent Gambian passport. This document, bearing the name Abdoulie Jallow, had already been used by three other individuals before being presented by Ebrima Jammeh in November 2023, exposing a deep-rooted scheme.

The Mastermind Behind the Operation

Lamin Manneh, 51, known as ‘Marcus’ to his criminal contacts, orchestrated the entire £2 million network. Despite claiming a modest income as a courier for Boots, Manneh ran a sophisticated operation from West Yorkshire, London, and Reading, facilitating illegal entry for hundreds of migrants.

Manneh obtained genuine travel documents, replacing photographs with those of paying customers and devising complex routes to evade immigration controls. His wife, Mariama Jallow, 46, was also implicated, making multiple travel bookings for illegal immigrants as part of the scheme.

Exploiting the Vulnerable and Deceased

‘This case is one of many examples of ruthless criminals facilitating illegal entry into the UK for their own gain. As with many organised immigration crime gangs, their sole motive was to line their own pockets.’

— Phil Parr, Home Office Investigator

The gang’s methods included exploiting the identities of a man who had been dead for seven years and a British Army soldier whose documents were stolen while he mourned his mother’s death in The Gambia. This callous disregard for individuals underscores the criminal nature of the operation, which saw passports altered and resold for £5,000 each.

  • A single Gambian passport was recycled four times, used by different individuals to enter Britain.
  • The network generated £2 million by charging migrants thousands for forged documents, flights, and black market work.
  • Identities of a deceased man and a serving British soldier were exploited to create fraudulent travel documents.
  • Home Office investigators uncovered 1,709 passport photographs and hundreds of other identity documents on the mastermind’s seized device.
  • The operation illegally shipped an estimated 500 or more migrants into the UK over three years.

What This Means for Britain

This scandal reveals the shocking ease with which criminal gangs exploit our borders and the identities of ordinary Britons. For working families, it means public services are stretched further, and the integrity of our national security is compromised by those who profit from illegal immigration.

The economic impact is undeniable: a £2 million criminal enterprise operating within our communities, diverting resources and undermining legitimate businesses. This black market economy fuels further crime and places an undue burden on taxpayers, impacting the cost of living for every household.

Politically, this is another stark reminder of the establishment’s failure to secure our borders and protect British citizens. The repeated exploitation of our systems by organised crime highlights a pattern of weakness that must be addressed with urgency and resolve.

The stakes are incredibly high. If this unchecked flow continues, Britain risks losing control of its borders entirely, eroding trust in our institutions and threatening the very fabric of our society. This is not just about numbers; it’s about the future of our nation.
