A BBC Newsnight presenter has issued an apology to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage after being accused of deliberately misquoting him during a broadcast, changing his call for “pure cold rage” to “white cold rage.”

BBC Presenter’s Apology

Matt Chorley, a presenter for BBC’s Newsnight programme, publicly apologised to Nigel Farage for misrepresenting his comments regarding the murder of Henry Nowak. As reported by GB News, Chorley had suggested Farage called for “white cold rage,” when in fact, in a video posted on social media, the Reform leader had demanded “pure cold rage.”

Reform’s home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf, accused Chorley of being “prepared to defame Nigel and lie to the country,” calling the incident “disgusting from the BBC.” Chorley stated, “I owe Nigel Farage an apology. During last night’s Newsnight we covered the murder of Henry Nowak and the political reaction to the case, including discussing Nigel Farage’s comments about pure, cold rage.” He admitted, “However I referred to white cold rage. This was a mistake on my part, a misremembering of the quote.”

Violent Clashes and Police Injuries

The apology comes amidst appeals for calm from ministers following violent clashes between protesters and police near the location where Henry Nowak was stabbed to death. Hampshire Police confirmed that 11 officers and one police dog were injured during the disorder, with two people arrested for assaulting police and possession of a weapon, as reported by GB News.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the case of Digwa, who was given a life sentence for Nowak’s murder. Digwa had previously been investigated in 2023 for stealing ceremonial blades but no further action was taken. Labour representatives, including John Savage and Sarah Bogle, described the violence as “absolutely outrageous” and “very unwelcome,” noting that political activist Tommy Robinson attended the demonstration.

What This Means for Britain

This incident highlights the deep distrust many ordinary Britons feel towards the mainstream media, especially when it comes to reporting on figures like Nigel Farage and Reform UK.

The misquoting of a prominent political figure, especially with a racially charged alteration, fuels the belief that the establishment press seeks to discredit voices that challenge the status quo.

For those who feel ignored and lied to, this public apology from the BBC will be seen as further proof that the media often operates with a clear agenda against pro-sovereignty politicians.

The violent clashes following the murder of Henry Nowak, and the subsequent injury to police officers, underscore the serious breakdown of law and order in some communities.

It also raises questions about the effectiveness of police and local authorities in managing public order and addressing underlying tensions, particularly concerning issues like asylum seeker accommodation.

The ongoing IOPC investigation into the murderer’s prior police contact will be closely watched by those who demand accountability from public institutions.

  1. ‘ Apologise’ ? He should have been sacked ! These ‘presenters’ are there simply to report the actual news . . . and NOT their version of it. If he wants to make personal political comments, he should get himself ‘elected’, join the rest of those anti-Reform parasites in Westminster, and not use his present position to influence opinion one way or another.
