Four senior London Labour figures have been charged with conspiracy and Computer Misuse Act offences after a Metropolitan Police investigation found Labour Party member data was allegedly manipulated to boost one candidate’s chances in the 2024 Croydon East selection.
Labour Figures Charged
Joel Bodmer, 40 (Unison organiser and former prospective candidate), Shila Bodmer, 41, Gabriel Leroy, 24, and former Croydon councillor Carole Bonner, 69, have been charged with conspiracy to commit an offence and Section 3 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990. Bodmer faces an additional charge of perverting the course of justice over allegations phone records were changed.
Selection Paused After Irregularities
The candidate selection process was paused in November 2023 after complaints of changed phone numbers and fake emails, preventing some candidates from contacting members to vote. It was re-run four months later. Natasha Irons won the re-run and became MP. All four have been suspended from the Labour Party.

Reform UK: Labour Sleaze Exposed Again
Reform UK has condemned the charges as further proof of deep-rooted sleaze and corruption at the heart of Labour. The party says this latest scandal shows Labour cannot be trusted to run a fair democratic process, let alone the country. Reform demands full transparency and accountability from a party that promised to clean up politics.
What This Means for Britain
This is yet another damaging blow for Labour as local elections loom. While families face £2,000 energy bills, record small boat crossings and a cost-of-living crisis, Labour figures stand accused of rigging internal selections to get their preferred candidates elected. The public is rightly asking how many other selections were manipulated.
Reform UK’s message is clear: Britain needs honest politics and real change. With local elections weeks away, voters can reject Labour’s sleaze and back the only party committed to cleaning up politics and putting British people first.

Normal labour actions and they will probably get away with it, as normal.
