A bombshell new document buried in the Humble Address bundle reveals that Cabinet Secretary Simon Case explicitly advised Sir Keir Starmer to complete security clearance BEFORE confirming Lord Mandelson’s appointment as US ambassador – but the Prime Minister ignored the guidance.

Case’s Clear Advice Ignored

In the official-sensitive document, Case told Starmer: “If you want a political appointment you should give us the name of the person you would like to appoint and we will develop a plan for them to acquire the necessary security clearances and do due diligence on any potential Conflicts of Interest or other issues of which you should be aware before confirming your choice.”

Direct Contradiction of Starmer’s Defence

This directly contradicts No 10’s repeated claims that Starmer was kept in the dark or that “due process” was followed. The document proves Starmer was given the correct procedure in writing but chose not to follow it.
