Reform UK’s Suella Braverman has delivered a scathing attack on Rachel Reeves, calling the latest IMF analysis a “damning indictment” of Labour’s economic mismanagement as the UK is forecast to see the sharpest tax rises of any developed nation, with the tax burden climbing to 42.1% of GDP by 2030 and Britons facing a £4,000 hike in bills.

IMF Places UK Top of Global Tax Rise Rankings

The International Monetary Fund’s latest report shows Britain leading the G7 for tax increases. The Chancellor’s policies will push the overall tax burden to 42.1 per cent of GDP by 2030 — the highest level in modern history. Suella Braverman told GB News the figures prove Labour is “crippling working families”.

Braverman: “Devastating Decisions”

Speaking on GB News, the Reform UK Education Spokesman said: “It says it all, doesn’t it? It’s a damning indictment of the state of the economy. But more importantly, the devastating decisions made by this Labour Chancellor, and those decisions are, frankly, crippling working families.”

She highlighted the impact on ordinary people: “I’ve lost count… of the number of households, small businesses, regular people, workers, the white van man, the local hairdresser on the high street who are really struggling to make ends meet. Largely because of the rise in National Insurance, the above inflation increase to the minimum wage and more bureaucracy and cost coming down from this Government.”
