Richard Tice has launched a scathing attack on the Crown Prosecution Service after a man was charged over an alleged incident in which a boat was damaged at sea.

The Reform UK Deputy Leader questioned why the CPS had rushed through charges in days in this case, while taking months to charge suspects in other high-profile cases.

CPS Charge Daniel Thomas Over Boat Incident

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Daniel Thomas, 37, has been charged with criminal damage and failure to comply with a notice to make disclosure in accordance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.

The charges follow an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary into an incident on Tuesday 22 September where a boat was allegedly damaged in the sea.

In a statement, Chris Derrick from the Crown Prosecution Service said prosecutors had worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.

The CPS added that proceedings against the defendant are active and he has the right to a fair trial, and that there should be no reporting or commentary which could prejudice proceedings.

The Boston and Skegness MP also referenced the Manchester Airport incident, saying it took many months to charge suspects for assault against police officers, and only after he started a private criminal prosecution.
