Green Party Councillor Under Fire for Supercar Videos Amid Climate Push

A newly-elected Green Party councillor faces accusations of hypocrisy after social media videos emerged showing him driving high-end, gas-guzzling supercars, directly contradicting the party’s climate and anti-car use policies.

Green Councillor’s Supercar Controversy

Mohammad Baghdadi Khan, a Green Party councillor for Bolton’s Halliwell ward, has come under scrutiny. Videos posted on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook show Mr Khan behind the wheel of luxury vehicles. One clip features a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, a car valued up to £270,000. Another shows him in a Mercedes-Benz. These posts directly clash with the Green Party’s public stance on climate action and reduced car usage.

Party Policies and Public Reaction

The Green Party explicitly states that transport choices contribute significantly to carbon emissions. They champion “better, cheaper” public transport. The party recently proposed cutting speed limits to 55mph on major roads to boost fuel efficiency. Mr Khan’s videos have sparked public criticism. One TikTok user called it an “absolute joke.” Mr Khan reportedly responded, “Who said councillors can’t drive cars like this?” The Green Party and Mr Khan have been approached for comment.
